Moorpark, California - Facts & Figures
Moorpark, CA was established in 1900 and was named for the moorpark apricot trees that were growing throughout the area. It did not officially become a city until 1983. Moorpark College makes its home there, and is one of very few programs that offer an Exotic Animal Training and Management curriculum. Moorpark was the first city in the country to run off of nuclear power, and one of a very small number in the whole world. Moorpark is currently a fast-growing city in Ventura County, and is widely known for the discovery of an almost-complete mammoth skeleton while preparing their land for further development.
