Referred to as the “Furniture Capital of the World,” High Point is famous for its furniture and bus manufacturing. It is home to Laurel University and High Point University. High Point was located at the highest point of the 1856 North Carolina Railroad between Charlotte and Goldsboro where it intersected the 1852 Great Western Plank Road. It is 1,000 feet above sea level, making it one of the highest cities in North Carolina. The climate is humid subtropical with four seasons.
