Colton, California - Facts & Figures
Colton, CA was established in 1875, but before that point it was inhabited by the Serrano, Guachama and San Gorgonio Indians. The town was also a part of the mission era of California, and then a part of two separate rancheros. Today, Colton is a city largely supported by the railroad. Two major routes cross in the city; as transport between Los Angeles and Long Beach has increased, Colton's lines experienced quite a problem. Colton Crossing is one of the busiest crossings in the country, but the tracks were recently replaced to alleviate the issue.
