Warren is the third largest city in Michigan and Metro Detroit's largest suburb. Warren's recreation department supports a city community center and recreation center with 24 parks. The city boasts a Fine Arts Center that offers classes and workshops for adults and children. The Warren Symphony Orchestra offers several concerts per season. Other local attractions include the Detroit Zoo, Detroit Children's Museum, Motown Historical Museum, National Museum of the Tuskegee Airmen, Museum of Contemporary Art, Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, Detroit Historical Museum, Family Aquatic Center at Chandler Park, Historic Fort Wayne, Model T. Automotive Heritage Complex, Automotive Hall of Fame, The New Detroit Science Center, Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, and Lincoln Park Historical Museum. In 1965 an enclosed shopping mall named Universal Mall was built, but it was torn down in 2009 for a new outdoor shopping mall. The crime rate is lower in Warren than most Metro Detroit cities.
