Founded by a Quaker from England in 1683, Woodbury, NJ has a rich history. To this day it is twin cities with Bury, England and celebrate their heritage with cultural and sporting events on major anniversaries. Though Woodbury has experienced some decline in population and has experienced some economic struggles, the city has been progressive in the areas of environmental preservation, economic restructuring programs, and increasing transit to nearby Philadelphia. Woodbury is known for being the first city in the United States to put recycling into law, as well as being the site of a major archaeological find in 1787, when a dinosaur was found in a local Cretaceous strata.
