Greensboro, North Carolina - Facts & Figures
Greensboro is the third largest city in North Carolina. It is located at the intersection of two major interstate highways (I-85 and I-40) in the Piedmont region of central North Carolina. The city was named after Nathanael Greene, commander of the American forces at the Battle of Guilford Court House during the Revolutionary War. The town is home to major manufacturers of textile which was introduced by the Cone brothers. Later on, architecture and construction were prominent within the city welcoming industrialization. Although the town has a lot of war history, it was a prominent town of the Civil Rights movement.
